#newmusicmonday: Kendrick Lamar

He’s back at it again. Kendrick Lamar, artist, rapper, activist, continues to set the bar high for conscious rap.

His latest release, Untitled Unmastered, is a  raw, honest collection of recordings. Hence the release title, the recordings are raw and in the flesh.

Each track is a medley of Kendrick’s thoughts. Starting from the beginning, each song flows through the many faces of Kendrick. Bouncing from hardcore lyrics to chilling vocals to someone strumming a guitar while Kendrick croons-there are many levels in, Untitled Unmastered.

This release marks the ultimate transition from underground rapper to political, groundbreaking activist.

Featuring SZA, TDE songstress, a track produced by Egypt-Swizz Beats’ 5-year-old son, and other unknown artists, this release is a must listen.
